There is one woodworker whose name
is known to many. Even people that know nothing about
woodworking know his name. That man is Norm Abram.
Most people know him as the co-host / resident carpenter
on the This Old House TV show but real woodworkers
know him from one of the best woodworking shows around.
That show is The New Yankee Workshop. Norm is so famous
among the woodworking community that we use his name
to describe those of us that enjoy the benefits of
tools with power cords (as opposed to the non-electric
ones). We are called "Normites". You see,
Norm tends to go a bit overboard on the tool end.
He's got it all. Add to this the fact that he's made
flannel a fashion statement and you start to get the
picture. I truly like Norm. He's brought woodworking
to the masses as few others could. Norm seems like
a pretty likeable guy on TV but who can tell for sure?
Well, I got my chance to meet the man in person and
I'm happy to say that he was every bit as kind and
generous as I had hoped. Click on the pictures below
for the full story.
